MY HOME SWEET HOME

I got to tell a story about my hometown, specifically my "kampung". Kampung Betong/Kg Kuala Kerik is situated in Sik District, Kedah. I was born there and I'm proud to be there. Although I wasn't a permanent residence of that kampung, still, I love that place. I enjoy living in that kampung. I got and still getting a lots of experiences and I always feels the sweetness of the moments that I have while staying in my grandparents house. Okayy..there will be a lots of things that I want to tell about my beloved hometown..Lets begin with the history of the kampung. My grandma said the kampung got its name from a type of bamboo called buluh betong. At that time, that place was filled with the bamboo, so that's why people called that place Kampung Betong. My grandparents house is near the mosque (AL FALAH MOSQUE) and strategically located between the KEMAS kindergarten and SK Kg Betong. Beside my grandparents house there's my aunt house. And most important, there will be my mum's house also in the becoming years..Insha Allah..Together with my beloved grandparents Rokiah binti Saman and Ismail bin Ibrahim there lived my other aunt who is still not getting married , yet..Roselah binti Ismail. Usually I spent my holiday staying with them instead of staying with my parents. That's because I love living there, and no one can stop me from loving and forgetting the place that I was born at.
My grandparents own a piece of land and they planted coffee trees, banana trees, and others. During the last semester break I got a chance to experience of harvesting the peanuts, corn and coffee with my grandma and my aunts. At the site of my house-to-be they planted corn tree and it looks like a corn farm..and at the other side there are peanut tree. It's fun, You know..picking and savouring the taste of self-planting peanuts and corns.
The best part is taraaa..I got the opportunity to run the activities with them. I also contributed something. Clearing the land to plant another corn tree and vegetables such as ladies finger, brinjal, chillies and spinach..Plus, I also have the opportunity to watch my grandma made her own coffee powder. Well, this is a rare experience. Watching a coffee-making process. Now, I know how my grandma made her own flavoured and unique taste of coffee. Inshaallah, It will become our legacy.
